Some guitars are meant for travel. One that is called the silent guitar has a hollow body that converts the vibration of the strings into electrical current. The Lapstick is a short scale guitar compact enough to fit into the pocket of an overcoat. It has a scale length 3/4 of a normal instrument. The Lapstick, just like other travel guitars is used with a pair of headphones plugged into the headphones output. This function uses a 9 volt battery that can provide about 5 hours of power.
