Guitars Meant for Practice while Traveling
Some guitars are meant for travel. One that is called the silent guitar has a hollow body that converts the vibration of the strings into electrical current. The musician is able to play with headphones without disturbing people around him while he plays. There are several manufacturers of travel guitars. There is Lawson, March and the Lapstick.
The Lapstick is a short scale guitar compact enough to fit into the pocket of an overcoat. It has a scale length 3/4 of a normal instrument. It is equipped with a battery-powered preamp which allows the use of headphones in any situation which requires silent, private practice time. The Lapstick, just like other travel guitars is used with a pair of headphones plugged into the headphones output. This function uses a 9 volt battery that can provide about 5 hours of power.
